Oregon survives Cal, 17-7

Eugene, Ore. -- Oregon football survived a potential upset at Autzen Stadium, beating California 17-7 despite trailing for most of the game.

"I thought the best part that regardless of some of the things that were going on, we had pentalites we aren't accustomed to having, is that no one flinched," said head coach Mario Cristobal. "Even though we might've been pressing, everyone encouraged each other and coached each other and took on the mentality that this is going to be a dog fight. That's OK."

Despite quarterback Justin Herbert throwing his first interception and being shut out in the first half, it was the Ducks offense that kept them in the game.

"When you play good football teams and play conference games to be able to buckle up and buckle down like we did and come back and win that football game, proud of our guys," Cristobal mentioned.

Wide receivers Juwan Johnson, Breden Schooler and Mycah Pittman were all back in action. Schooler and Pittman did some good things. Maybe a bright spot for the Ducks for the future.

"Football can be taken away from you so fast so I'm so grateful to be able to heal quickly, grateful for the staff that we have that got me back healthy and strong as possible," said Pittman.

The Ducks have a short week before taking on Colorado on Friday. A lot to clean up until then.
