CORVALLIS, Ore. -- Oregon State could be seeing backup UCLA backup QB Austin Burton on Saturday.
UCLA's starting quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson has been sidelined at practice with a leg injury.
"I think you prepare against the scheme and obviously you dial into the skill set of each guy at quarterback," OSU head coach Jonathan Smith said.
The Beavers are coming off a three-point loss to Stanford in which OSU had to prepare for the backup QB possibility. Stanford's starter KJ Costello was ruled out and the Cardinal had Davis Mills under center.
Oregon State knows it can't take Burton lightly if he is to start.
"We don't know who is going to play," Smith said. "I don't think the offense is going to drastically change. Really, it looks like the second quarterback is able to move the ball really well. We know it's a challenge and we'll be ready to go."
OSU and UCLA kickoff at 6 p.m. on Saturday from the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Calif.
