Mavericks take a chance on Oregon State’s Stephen Thompson Jr.

Thompson Jr. keeps his basketball career alive with Dallas.

Corvallis, OR. -- The 2019 NBA Draft was highlighted by dozens of players walking across the stage and shaking commissioner Adam Silver’s hand. But not for Oregon State’s Stephen Thompson Jr. The 6-foot-4 guard went undrafted but got a call Sunday night that kept his professional dreams alive. Mark Cuban an the Dallas Mavericks came calling.

Thompson Jr. was added to the Mavericks’ summer league roster. He finished his four-year OSU career in March as the school’s all-time leading 3-point shooter and fourth in career scoring.

The Mavericks open summer league play in Las Vegas against Brooklyn on July 5.
