Eugene, Ore. -- Xavier Pinson scored 19 of his 22 points in the second half and Missouri overcame a mid-game lull and late Oregon flurry to beat the No. 21 Ducks 83-75 on Wednesday night. Mark Smith scored 13 of his 15 points in the first half as Missouri built a 17-point lead, but Chris Duarte scored eight straight points to get the Ducks within five in the final minute. Eugene Omoruyi set career highs with 31 points and 11 rebounds in his first game for the Ducks since transferring from Rutgers.
Despite a double-double from Warith Alatishe, Oregon State similarly lost their Pac-12 opener against Washington State 59-55. Alatishe paced the Beavers on 5/11 shooting and 8 offensive rebounds. Zach Reichle finished with 12 points while Ethan Thompson and Jarrod Lucas struggled from the field shooting a combined 5/22 and 2/13 from 3PT range. Portland native Isaac Bonton led the Cougars with 15 points while the Cougs relied on four double-digit scorers to make it by Oregon State late.
