EUGENE, Ore. -- The push to legalize psychedelic mushrooms for medical use by 2020 is gaining traction in Eugene.

Shroompac2020, a group that's pushing for the legislation is canvassing in Eugene and asking for donations.

Holly Sullivan of Shroompac2020 said they can be used to combat some mental health issues and they want therapists to be able to use them with their patents.

"We know that we can do it," said Sullivan. "We did it with cannabis, we proved that we can rally together and change laws."

The Oregon Psilocybin Society is the petitioner for the campaign. They need over 140,000 signatures to be considered on the 2020 ballot.
