MAPLETON, Ore. -- A woman is dead following an overnight standoff with Lane County sheriff's deputies, according to Lane County Sheriff's Office.

The Lane County Sheriff’s Office said a caller reported a domestic dispute involving a firearm at a home in the 87000 block of Rice Road in Mapleton just before 8:30 p.m. Saturday.

The caller reportedly told LSCO that Jazmine Thein, 28, used a firearm to shoot at her brother. Her brother was able to escape to a neighbor’s house, LCSO said.

When deputies arrived, they confirmed that Thein was still inside the residence, according to the sheriff's office.

During the next several hours, deputies tried to negotiate and de-escalate the situation so that she could be taken into custody safely, Lane County Sheriff's Office said.

Deputies reportedly found Thein dead in a bedroom from what they say appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot shortly after 6 a.m. Sunday.

No shots were ever fired by deputies during this incident, the sheriff's office said.
