SPRINGFIELD, Ore. -- The woman who crashed her car into the Arco sign in Springfield is still in the hospital Sunday night and police said she's facing a long list of citations including DUII.
Police said what started as a traffic stop quickly turned into a pursuit and ended with the driver, 27-year-old Kayse Bosarge of Springfield, crashing into a sign at the Arco gas station off of Gateway street.
This happened around 10 p.m. Saturday night, according to police.
They said she was trying to turn north onto Gateway Street, but couldn't make the turn.
They said that's when the car hit the sign and burst into flames.
Eugene Springfield fire was able to put out the flames.
Police said Bosarge suffered some injuries and is in "stable" condition.
KEZI spoke to an employee at the Arco gas station who said he wasn't there at the time of the incident, but was shocked to hear the news.
"It's a scary thought that someone might drive into here and potentially cause a fire or hurt someone in the manner that they were drunk or whatever," said MaIcollm Hightower. "It's just a scary thought to work here and have that happen so I'm just glad it was dealt with in a swift manner."
Police said Bosarge faces a long list of citations including attempting to elude, DUII and driving with a suspended license.
