Fire shuts down 30th Avenue in Eugene

An officer on scene said the fire burned about two to three hundred yards.

EUGENE, Ore. -- A wildland fire broke out on 30th avenue in Eugene Tuesday evening.

Officials said they received phone calls from witnesses around 4:00 p.m.

The area of 30th street from I-5 to Spring Boulevard was closed for about two hours Tuesday evening because of that fire.

East-bound traffic opened around 6p.m. and West-bound traffic was reduced to one lane.

An officer on scene said the fire burned about two to three hundred yards.

The fire was burning in three distinct spots, according to an officer on scene.

The cause of the fire is still unknown.
