UPDATE: the Lane County Sheriff's Office said the case is under investigation, and two shell casings were discovered from other properties on Jeans Road on Saturday. They said no one was hurt.
VENETA, Ore. -- Veneta residents are in shock after a suspected drive-by shooting damaged at least one house overnight.
The shooting happened just after 2 a.m. on Friday on Jeans Road near England Loop.
KEZI 9 News spoke to one of the victims, who didn't want her name released. She said she was sleeping on the couch and the bullet came a foot away from hitting her in the head.
"You feel like you're supposed to be safe in your own home and you can sleep and watch TV and nothing like this is going to happen out here," the victim said. "It's an invasion and total disregard for any human life or anybody else."
The bullet traveled through the outside wall, hitting an electric fan before passing through another wall and hitting the back of a refrigerator. The victim said she heard at least eight other shots and immediately called 911.
Her teenage daughter and husband were also at home and sleeping at the time, she said. None of them were hurt.
She said deputies with the Lane County Sheriff's Office recovered the slug from her home and two shell casings from the road.
KEZI has reached out to the Lane County Sheriff's Office to learn more but has not heard back at this time.
The victim said she hopes the person or people responsible are brought to justice and has this to say the gunman: "How dare you endanger me and my family, and anybody else who was in their homes sleeping," the victim said.
