Use of fireworks during New Year’s Eve in Eugene

Using illegal fireworks can carry a $375 dollar fine.

EUGENE, Ore. -- Legal fireworks can be used December 31st and January 1st.

The Eugene Police department wants to remind people that legal fireworks are sold from June 23 through July 6 of each year.

According to police, legal fireworks produce only smoke, sparks or fire but do not explode or fly into the air more than 12 inches.

Using illegal fireworks can carry a $375 dollar fine.

If someone is setting off illegal fireworks, you are asked to report the illegal fireworks activity to police.
