ROSEBURG, OR. -- It’s warm all over our area right now, but especially in the Umpqua Basin.

Firefighters want people to take extra precautions to keep cool if you're out an about.

This includes things like drinking plenty of water and wearing light-colored clothing to avoid getting over-heated.

Also consider ways to keep your home cool.

"Keep your windows closed, your blinds closed as much as possible. Especially if you have direct sunlight in, that will keep that radiated heat from inside the house. If there’s a breeze blowing and it’s cooled down, open up some windows and doors and let the breeze blow through and cool down the house naturally,” said Roseburg Fire Department Assistant Chief Gary Garrisi.

Garrisi also encourages people that might be out around town to stop in local shops to enjoy their air conditioning.
