EUGENE, Ore. -- The United States Marshals Service announced a major operation that targeted sex offenders in Oregon called Operation Oregon Trail 3.
The U.S. Marshals Service partnered with Oregon State Police, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, the Coburg Police Department, and other law enforcement agencies around the state to target non-compliant sex offenders, sex offenders with warrants, and high-risk sex offenders.

From July to September, law enforcement made 37 arrests in Washington County and 15 arrests in Lane County. There were a combined 785 compliance checks in both counites.
Oregon has 30,900 registered sex offenders and 4,200 are non-compliant.
