ROSEBURG, Ore. -- Umpqua Community College will hold its annual Day of Remembrance on Thursday, Oct. 1.
This day marks the fifth anniversary of the mass shooting that took the lives of eight students and an instructor. As granted by Gov. Kate Brown, the campus flag will be flown at half-staff from sunrise to sunset.
Due to COVID-19, the annual ceremony will be held virtually via livestream on the campus YouTube channel. It starts at 10:30 a.m.
The campus' permanent 10/1 Memorial is currently under construction.
