Winston, OR -- Douglas football didn't even touch a football in the first hour of fall camp.

It was all about form tackling.

"Tackling fundamentals are definitely something Coach P tries to push for and they're definitely something we really need to get down and learn so we don't need to injure ourselves or someone else," defensive back Brett Perry said.

"Coach P" refers to head coach Silia Polamalu. Polamalu is leading a Trojans team that won just one game last season. The senior members of the team know the importance of his teachings.

"He motivates you to work harder in the weight room, on the field and in school because he's a teacher here as well," lineman Isaac Skurt said.

Despite the lack of success last season, the team hopes to build on the 8-0 win over South Umpqua to end the season. It was a moment some of the players highlighted.

Douglas opens the regular season at La Pine on September 6.
