EUGENE, Ore. -- The Twin Rivers Charter School could have their charter renewed with the 4J School District.

The school, formerly the Northwest Youth Corps Outdoor School, received a charter with the 4J School District three years ago.

Since then, school officials said they've been working to get their educational standards up to par and creating a school that parents, students and the district can be proud of.

Students said their time at Twin Rivers has been life-changing.

"In front of you today -- well, tonight -- is a group of kids who are passionate in what they believe in, what we believe in as a community, and that's Twin Rivers Charter School," student Logan Wigham said. "I went from unfocused, hyperactive train wreck to a constructively motivated student. I no longer fear for my mental or physical well-being when I walk through the doors of the school."

4J officials will make their final decision on the charter renewal at their meeting on Jan. 23.
