Man found guilty of manslaughter in deaths of Sweet Home siblings in DUII crash

ALBANY, Ore. -- The verdict is in for a man who drove drunk and killed two of three Sweet Home siblings in a crash last year.

Austyn Wayne Hillsman, 22, has been found guilty of two counts of second-degree manslaughter, third-degree assault, driving under the influence of intoxicants and reckless driving.

The trial began June 8 with jury selection.

On May 23, 2020, Hillsman was driving drunk eastbound on Highway 228 outside of Brownsville. He then crossed over into oncoming traffic, hitting a car carrying Caleb, Shelby, and Kylee Simonis. Caleb and Shelby passed away that night but Kylee survived the crash.
