Former Oregon Duck football player Colt Lyerla pleads guilty

A former Oregon Duck football player accused of domestic violence and drug offenses pleaded guilty on Tuesday.

EUGENE, Ore. – A former Oregon Duck football player accused of domestic violence and drug offenses pleaded guilty on Tuesday.

Colt Lyerla, 27, pleaded guilty to coercion, fourth-degree assault, strangulation and possession of heroin. One count of second-degree assault was dismissed.

Court documents show the crimes happened over multiple days in June.

He was sentenced in Lane County Circuit Court to two years and three months in prison.

Lyerla was scheduled to go to trial on Tuesday, but the case settled before the trail began.

He has been in jail since mid-June and will receive credit for jail time he has already served.

In 2011, Lyerla came to the University of Oregon from Hillsboro High School.
