SUTHERLIN, Ore. -- People in Sutherlin will experience more construction activity this week as the city works to complete the next three phases of their Central Avenue Project.
Phase one began on Sunday night and is expected to last until Tuesday evening.
Exit 136 will be closed each evening until it’s completed.
Local business owner Will Metzler said he thinks this project is much needed.
“What they’re doing is great. It’s excellent. I have a lot of senior customers. When they step out of their car, they take a chance of getting hit or taking their door off,” Metzler said. “Well, the way they backed it up 18 inches, now they get out and have plenty of room. It’s safe, and it’s great.”
The city said there will be pilot cars to help move traffic during construction, but it's best to try to take another route if you can.
Construction is expected to last until Sunday, June 24.
