Tornado touches down near Jefferson

Minimal damage was reported, including downed trees and a street sign that was knocked over.

JEFFERSON, Ore. -- The National Weather Service reported that a tornado touched down in the Jefferson-Scio area, about 12 miles northeast of Albany, on Monday afternoon.

The confirmed tornado touched down at 3:36 p.m., moving east at 15 mph.

Minimal damage was reported, including downed trees and a street sign that was knocked over.

The NWS issued a tornado warning for southwestern Marion County and north central Linn County, but it soon expired.
