PORTLAND, Ore. – Tonya Harding is calling out the media, the public and Oregonians in an in-depth New York Times piece on Oregon’s infamous Olympian.

“I moved from Oregon to Washington because Oregon was buttheads,” Harding is quoted as saying in the article published Wednesday, titled “Tonya Harding would like her apology now.”

She said she deserves an apology and forgiveness for a hitman’s attack on Nancy Kerrigan in 1994, a plan she maintains she knew nothing about.

A former Multnomah County prosecutor says that’s not true.

“There’s no question she had a rough life and a rough time, but apology for what?” Norm Franks said. “Apology for the fact she committed a crime and got caught? I don't know what the apology would be for."

In the piece, Harding praises the new biopic “I, Tonya,” which shows abuse she endured.

The article comes 24 hours after Harding threatened to abruptly end an interview with Piers Morgan, who said Kerrigan was a victim, not Harding.

Harding, who was born in Portland, pleaded guilty to conspiring to hinder prosecution after the attack on Kerrigan.
