EUGENE, Ore. -- One program in Eugene is bringing the young and old together to spread a little cheer.

The Little Hands Can's weekly "Happy Helpers" program welcomes babies to six-year-olds and their parents to befriend residents at the Waterford Grand assisted living facility.

Organizers said they work on fun projects to brighten up their spirits.

KEZI spoke with one mother who takes her daughter every week.

"It's great to be learning at a young age that giving back to our community is important and that we need to be active members of our community that are trying to make the place better," said Miriam Clark.

Organizers said the program is free and does not require any type of registration. If you want to take part, just show up at the Waterford Grand lobby at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesdays.
