Toddler drowns in Linn County

Deputies said it's believed to be an accidental drowning.

LINN COUNTY, Ore. -- A toddler has drowned near Shedd, the Linn County Sheriff's Office said.

Deputies responded to a home on Boston Mill Drive after 7 p.m. Wednesday. They said they received a call from a father saying that his 2-year-old son was missing. He said he'd been doing yard work with the child prior to the disappearance.

Along with the Halsey-Shedd Fire Department, deputies searched for the child.

At about 7:20 p.m. the child was found down a steep embankment along the driveway in several inches of water.

He was taken to Albany General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Deputies said it's believed to be an accidental drowning.
