JUNCTION CITY, Ore. -- Junction City High School will stay open for classes Friday after a school administrator discovered a threat on a bathroom wall Thursday afternoon.

According to a message sent to students, staff and parents, the threat read: "I'm gonna shoot up the school tomorrow at 0900 hours. Be ready." It was dated Jan. 23. The Junction City Police were brought on to help school administrators investigate.

Police said the school's new closed-circuit television cameras are playing an important role in the investigation.

Principals Dina Marschall and Brian Young said in the message the school takes any threat to its campus and students seriously.

"While classes will resume as usual tomorrow, we ask that you notify us if you decide to keep your child home," Marschall and Young said. "There will be an increased police presence in and around the school and counselors will be available for students needing support."

Police said this is an ongoing investigation, so anyone with any information is asked to come forward.
