SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – Thousands lined the streets for the 65th annual Springfield Christmas Parade.

High school students dressed up in their band uniforms and Christmas floats made their way across town.

The parade is usually put on by a committee, but earlier they cancelled it. So, two women from the community decided to put it on themselves.

With support from the community and from sponsors, they made it happen and their efforts paid off.

“It's really fun to hang out with your family, and have the joy, and just have the parade,” said Jessi Nicholson, a parade attendee.

“When we heard that it might go away, I was actually listening to the radio and heard the two gals that were spearheading it come on and say we need help,” said Ed Emberlin, a parade attendee. "I talked to my marketing director and said hey let's get out there and help them."

The parade had more than 100 entries along the two mile route.

Organizers want to thank everyone for making the parade possible and keeping the spirit of Christmas alive.
