EUGENE, Ore. – The Science Factory in Eugene has been renamed as the Eugene Science Center to reflect the museum's focus on STEM education - science, technology, engineering, and math.

Crews are in the process of changing all signs and banners to Eugene Science Center.

The nonprofit, which is located at Alton Baker Park,  has been serving the community since 1961. During that time it's undergone several name changes. The decision to re-brand it as The Eugene Science Center was made in 2016 when Tim Scott signed on as executive director.
"We have ambitions to grow our programs and footprint to have a greater impact using STEM principles as a bridge to learning,
playing, and creating a space for exploration," said Scott.

Visitors can expect exciting new changes including interactive exhibits that are built on-site.

"We are redeveloping our education program to make them more inquiry-based, open-ended.  We are now creating our exhibits in house which allows us to work with community better in developing exhibits that are more relevant to the community," added Scott.

Although the re-brand is in full swing, Scott said one of the immediate priorities of the museum is strengthening its current assets, the exhibits and programs, and expanding the use of the planetarium, one of the largest in the Pacific Northwest.
