EUGENE, Ore.-- The Lane County Sheriff's Office said they're broadening their search for a missing Junction City man who disappeared Monday while boating at Fern Ridge Reservoir.

A spokesperson said they are trying to pinpoint exactly where 38-year-old Kevin Carlile went missing so they're looking beyond where he was reportedly last seen, 150 yard offshore near the dam. The Douglas County Sheriff's Office also sent a boat and search team to help with the efforts.

Lane County Sheriff's Office deputies said Carlile jumped into the water with no life vest to help one of his children out of the water. At one point he, his wife, and two children were all in the water. Officials said high winds and rough waters made it difficult for the family to get back onto the boat. Carlile's wife and two children made it to shore safely but Carlile did not.

The sheriff's office said there will be search teams out on the water everyday until he is found.
