EUGENE, Ore. -- The Eugene Police Department is asking for help identifying a man who they said used a hammer to threaten a woman and sexually assaulted her.

Police said the woman was walking on N. Garden Way on Feb. 14 when the suspect walked up and began talking to her. They said she refused to talk to him and started walking faster but he continued to harass her.

Police said the man showed a hammer and used it to threaten her. He grabbed her, forcing her to another location where he sexually assaulted her, they said.

The man ran off and the victim called 911.

Police searched the area with the help of K9 officers but were unable to find the suspect.

Police are asking the public for their help identifying the suspect. They have released the video above in hopes it will help garner leads.

They describe the suspect as a white man in his 20's who stands about 5-foot 8-inches tall and weighs 160 pounds.

Anyone who may have any tips relevant to the case is asked to contact police.
