EUGENE, Ore. -- A 24-year-old man was arrested Monday afternoon after police say he stabbed his father during an argument over living arrangements.

Eugene police say it happened at a home in the 2700 block of East 16th Avenue just after noon.

The father was stabbed in an extremity, police said. Officers applied a tourniquet, and the victim was taken to RiverBend Hospital.

Police described his injuries as non-life threatening.

Investigators say the argument started when the father suggested that his son move out and find a different place to live.

The son is now in custody. He has been identified as Everardo Barrera. He faces charges of second-degree assault abuse prevention act, unlawful use of a weapon, harassment, and first-degree criminal mischief.

Police said the investigation is ongoing.
