Suspect arrested in rape near Oakway Center

A man has been arrested, accused of raping a woman near the Oakway Center in August.

EUGENE, Ore. -- A suspect has been arrested in connection with a rape near the Oakway Center on August 17.

Brodie Robinson, 25, of Eugene is being charged with first-degree rape, unlawful use of a weapon and strangulation, police said.

"The victim of this attack was incredibly courageous to report and follow through on interviews with us in this case," said Capt. Shawn Adams. "Because of her bravery, the case investigation continued and we were able to bring closure through identifying and making an arrest in the case."

Detectives said they confirmed the attack was random.

The woman called 911 just after 5 a.m., but the line was disconnected. She called back and reported the rape, saying she did not know the man who assaulted her.

Eugene Police advise the community to always be aware of their surroundings, walk in lighted areas as much as possible and to call 911 if you feel like you are in danger.
