EUGENE, Ore. -- After the holiday weekend, many are going back to work and students are starting school this week.
The weather couldn’t be better cooperating for those first day back-to-school pictures.
Tuesday: Mostly sunny. Highs in low to mid 80s
Wednesday: Mostly sunny. Highs in mid to upper 80s
Thursday: Mostly sunny w/ slight PM chance of t-storms. Highs in low to mid 80s
Friday: Mostly sunny. Highs in low to mid 80s
Saturday: Partly sunny. Highs in upper 70s to low 80s
Sunday: Mostly sunny. Highs in upper 70s to low 80s
Monday: Mostly sunny. Highs in upper 70s to low 80s
Sunshine will continue today with highs in the low to mid-80s inland and near 70 at the coast. There are some marine clouds at the coast this morning, but we should see some sun this afternoon.
Tomorrow will see a weak ridge of high pressure moving to the region. Despite this, onshore flow will continue at the coast, bringing marine clouds in the morning hours. Some of those could sneak into the valleys, but shouldn’t last long, as sunshine will come out close to noon. Temperatures will also be up a few degrees.
On Wednesday night into Thursday, we will be tracking a shortwave moving out of California. This will provide lift along the Cascades sparking thunderstorms. Normally in these cases in this pattern, models indicate the best chances over the Cascades, but west of Cascades cannot be ruled out. As of now, I only have a slight chance in Umpqua Basin and Willamette Valley
Friday through the weekend will be interesting as a series of troughs driving through the region. This will bring times of clouds and sun with slight chance of showers toward the start of next week. In addition, temperatures will begin to fall, with highs in the 70s starting Saturday.
