Behind the front, cooler air will help trigger post-frontal showers and snow showers. Snow levels will drop to near 2,000 feet on Saturday. The cooler air will also help trigger some instability in the atmosphere, which could cause thunderstorms and possibly small hail. Rainfall will likely be close to quarter of an inch in the interior valleys and closer to half inch along the coast.

In terms of snowfall, up to 2 inches of snow is possible for the higher elevations of the coast range and foothills. The Cascades themselves will be closer to 3 to 5 inches of snow. Showers will lighten on Sunday morning, with partly sunny skies during the afternoon.

The next system will arrive on Monday night into Tuesday, and this relatively wet pattern will likely continue through the middle of the week.
