VIDA, Ore. – McKenzie High School was on lockdown Friday after a stolen vehicle was found near the school, and a suspect is now in custody.

The Lane County Sheriff’s Office said they arrested Joshua Walker-Graham, 33, of Portland nearby.

Authorities said a 2020 GMC Traverse had been reported stolen out of Albany, and an Oregon State Police trooper responded to the school to investigate.

School staff reviewed security footage and reportedly saw Walker-Graham enter the main hallway of the school. Students and staff immediately went on lockdown, as the man’s location wasn’t immediately known.

Additional law enforcement arrived to the scene, and security footage revealed the suspect walking outside on school property, deputies said.

Walker-Graham was arrested walking about a mile away from the school. He was taken to the Lane County Jail on charges of possession of a stolen vehicle, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, first-degree trespass and first-degree theft of lost or mislaid property.

After the arrest, the lockdown was lifted. There is no ongoing threat, deputies said.
