SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – A man was arrested Monday morning after police responded to a report of an assault late Sunday night.
Jason Aaron Norton, 46, is in jail on charges of assault, strangulation, menacing and burglary.
Springfield police were called to the 2000 block of Marcola Road at 11:57 p.m. Sunday, after receiving a report of an assault at an apartment. After speaking to the assault victim, officers attempted to contact Norton at his apartment, but he refused to come to the door.
Following a lengthy negotiation, officers were eventually able to enter Norton’s front doorway with a police dog. They arrested Norton and took him into custody at about 11 a.m. on Monday.
Norton is being held in the Lane County Jail.
