“We have been able to offer vaccine opportunities to all of the staff in Springfield public schools,” Springfield Public School District superintendent Todd Hamilton said.

Hamilton also said this effort has helped to get teachers back in the classroom.

“We have students in Springfield learning in classrooms. Our K-1 students started on Thursday,” Hamilton said.

Although around 380 appointments were made on Saturday, officials said they anticipate to give out around 450 doses.

“Each vial has 10 doses, sometimes we're able to grab an 11th dose from the vial and that accounts for the extra doses,” district nurse Tanya Martin said.

Officials also said that the district expects to start administering second doses to their staff as early as March.
