EUGENE, Ore. -- Math and science night was a "soaring" success at Willagillespie Elementary School on Thursday night.

Kids
launched six rockets into the atmosphere as part of their fun experiments. Teachers said it was all about learning more and showing off the cool things that math and science can accomplish.

We talked to one fifth grader who says she has a new fascination with science after being one of the lucky ones to fire off a rocket.

"I went up there and I launched one of the rockets," McKenzie said. "It felt a little scary and awesome at the same time. Science is cool."

Stormtracker 9 Chief Meteorologist Marisa Woloszyn was on hand, along with the University of Oregon's Fun with OOBlech, and Dr. Raghu's Physics.

Kids even got to see a giant reptile eat a mouse, thanks to Reptile Universe.
