EUGENE, Ore. -- Snow is expected across western Oregon this weekend as a storm moves in from the north.

Snow showers will arrive Friday evening and continue throughout the day Saturday. The heaviest snow will be above 1,500 feet, but 1 to 3 inches of snow is possible down to the valley floors. The snow will mostly impact travel around the area, especially across the Cascade and Coast Range passes and Interstate 5 passes south of Roseburg.

Temperatures Saturday afternoon will climb just above freezing in the inland valleys and along the coast, causing showers to change back to rain before colder air returns Saturday night.

Saturday night, temperatures will drop into the upper 20s inland and near freezing along the coast. As showers continue, snow is likely down to the valley floors and even along the coast. Snow accumulation will be less than an inch below 500 feet, 1 to 2 inches above 500 feet, 2 to 3 inches above 1,000 feet and 3 to 6 inches above 1,500 feet by late Sunday morning.

Temperatures will be warmer Sunday afternoon, melting most of the valley and coastal snow, but cold temperatures and more snow is expected Sunday night into Monday.
