EUGENE, Ore. -- After 30 years in business Skip's Records and CD World on west 11th is closing its doors.
Owner Skip Hermens said it's been a great run but it's time for him and his wife to retire. He said they have been thinking about retiring for the past three years but decided to stay on for the sake of his employees and the community.
Hermens made the announcement on Wednesday and has had customers and former employees stop by the store on Friday to give him well wishes.
"We've had people in here today since I opened at 9 o'clock with hugs that have supported me for 20 years, 25 years, or since I opened and it those people I'm going to miss it, but it has to end sometime," Hermens said.
Hermans said he's not sure when their last day will be. He said they have been leasing the space month to months for years and their landlord is letting them take as much times as they need. He said they could be open through August.
He is urging his customers to support House Of Records in Downtown Eugene after they close.
