Sen. Jeff Kruse resigns amid sexual misconduct allegations

Sen. Jeff Kruse of Roseburg has resigned. This comes after recent allegations of sexual misconduct.

SALEM, Ore. -- Sen. Jeff Kruse of Roseburg has resigned amid sexual misconduct allegations.

The senator has been recently accused of sexually harassing women he worked with.

He continues to deny the allegations in a statement he sent out. He wrote, "I regret that I will not have the opportunity to defend myself before the Senate Conduct Committee."

Kruse said he resigned so that his colleagues can "focus on serving Oregonians without distraction and my constituents may receive the fullest representation they are due."

Although Kruse signed on Feb. 8, it won't take effect until March 15, according to Sen. Jackie Winter.

Kruse has served Curry, Coos, Douglas, Josephine, and Jackson counties for the past 22 years.
