NEAR EUGENE, Ore. -- Two people were injured in a crash on I-5 Saturday morning when a semi-truck crashed into a concrete barrier, pushing it into oncoming traffic.

It happened near mile post 191, just south of Eugene, shortly after 6:00 a.m.

Oregon State Police said Phillip Felix was driving the semi southbound on I-5 when he veered off the road for unknown reasons. They said he hit a concrete barrier in the median, pushing it into the northbound lanes.

The barrier was then hit by two other cars.

Police said two people who were in a car that hit the barrier were taken to Riverbend with non-life threatening injuries.

I-5 was shut down in both directions for 20 minutes. A lane in each direction stayed closed for an additional 5 hours, so that crews could fix the barrier and guardrail.
