EUGENE, Ore. -- The Saturday Market has decided to postpone opening over growing coronavirus concerns in the state.

The market typically opens the first weekend of April and runs through mid-November at the Park Blocks.

Now, plans are for the market to open April 18.

"The health, safety and overall wellbeing of our family is always our top priority," Vanessa Roy with the Saturday Market said in a statement.

The opening date could change, depending on advice from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and local officials.

"We are focused on making sure our members and our visitors put their health first and foremost as we face this situation together," Roy said.
