ROSEBURG, Ore. – A group of middle school students and staff had their online lesson on Zoom hacked on Monday, Roseburg Public Schools said.

An unknown person took control of the program and displayed graphic content, officials said.

“We are deeply disheartened by this incident, and the district is investigating,” they said in a Facebook post.

They said the teacher followed safety protocols and was unable to control the screen during the hack.

One parent told KEZI 9 News that they're still in shock over what happened.

"I feel really bad for the students it happened to," said parent Ryan Cripps. "I wouldn't want it happening to my four year old."

Moving forward, the district is suspending all planned Zoom lessons until they can be sure it won’t happen again, they said.
