Roseburg man hospitalized after shooting

A man was reportedly seen burying items in the ground near where the shooting took place.

ROSEBURG, Ore. – A man is in jail, accused of shooting someone on Sunday.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 4000 block of Grange Road at about noon after a caller reported a disturbance that ended in a shooting.

A resident told authorities they saw a man burying items in the ground near where the shooting took place.

James Strayer, 43, of Roseburg was taken to Mercy Medical Center with a gunshot wound, but detectives say at last check he was in stable condition.

Suspect John Armstrong, 63, of Roseburg was located shortly after the shooting and was taken to the Douglas County Jail on charges of second-degree attempted murder and first-degree assault.
