CORVALLIS, Ore. -- Reser Stadium announced some changes for the upcoming 2018 football season Thursday, a couple of which are similar to changes Autzen Stadium announced in July.

Oregon State University will be requiring attendees to bring clear bags, and the stadium will be introducing alcohol sales at games.

Autzen recently announced they would be doing the same thing, but that came with a re-entry policy change that no longer allowed fans to leave the stadium and return. After talking to the Oregon Liquor Control Commission, OSU will not be changing their re-entry policy, meaning fans can continue to leave and come back into the stadium throughout the game.

“They said our policies and procedures are very good, and they support them, and they're allowing this new policy,” said Steve Clark, VP of University Relations.

The new policy will allow alcohol to be served everywhere in the stadium except for the student section and a new family zone. However, students will still be able to buy beer or wine and drink it elsewhere in the stadium, so they said they're very excited about this change.

“Definitely will make coming to home games more exciting -- getting to come in, have a few drinks and watch the Beavers get some wins,” OSU student Nick Guardia said.

Some students worry things may get out of control.

“It's exciting, but still a little bit scary because you're in a football game, and if someone drinks a lot, it can get dangerous," OSU student Maria Amuneson said. “There just has to be a limit."

Clark said there will be limits. There will be a two-drink maximum purchase policy and sales will stop after the third quarter.

The new clear bag policy is similar to the one Autzen announced earlier this summer.

There will also be more transportation options -- a shuttle from the Portland area and a local partnership with Lyft.

“We also think that this is part of an overall fan experience improvement process that Oregon State is undertaking to improve the fan experience at football games at Reser Stadium,” Clark said.
