EUGENE, Ore. – The Cascades Raptor Center is reopening its doors on Wednesday – the first time since March.
People will have to reserve spots on certain days to visit, and masks are required for employees and visitors. Signs will show people where to walk to maintain distancing. And a plexiglass barrier is installed at check-in.
“Our mission at its core is connecting people with wildlife and for millennia people have been fascinated by these avian predators,” said Kitt Lacy, bird curator. “You know, you think about football teams that have mascots that are raptors, or automobiles, or in the ancient world, you have gods that were represented by these predators.
Hours will be 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday to start, but if they have a good turnout, hours will be extended to their normal summer hours.
