Missing Port Orford man found safe

Deputies are looking for a missing Port Orford man and need the public's help.

UPDATE: Tyler Batch has been found safe, according to deputies.

They said his car had broken down and he got lost while trying to find help. They said he tried following the creek after walking down a dead-end road. When he finally made it back to the main road he flagged down a car and got a ride to Powers.

Deputies said he was somewhat disoriented but otherwise fine.


CURRY COUNTY, Ore. - Law enforcement is searching for a Port Orford man reported missing Saturday, Jan. 13.

Deputies with the Curry County Sheriff’s Office were contacted by Wanda Coker of Port Orford on Saturday in regards to Tyler Batch, 34. Coker said she loaned Batch her gold 1999 Dodge Stratus on Jan. 9 and hasn’t seen or heard from him since.

On Jan. 13, deputies in Coos County located the vehicle in the middle of the road on Forest Service Road 3353 which is in a remote part of Curry County about 32 miles east of Port Orford. Deputies said a citizen had reported it abandoned.

Deputies said on Jan. 14, officers and search and rescue members from both Curry and Coos County Sheriff’s Offices searched the surrounding areas of where the vehicle was found but did not find any clues as to the whereabouts of Batch. Deputies have since continued to search for him with no luck.

Batch is described as about 6-foot tall, 190 pounds, brown hair, hazel eyes, with a full beard. He was last seen wearing grey hoodie, jeans and possibly a tan army style jacket. Batch is said to be in good health.

The Curry County Sheriff’s Office is asking the public for any information that might lead to the whereabouts of Tyler Batch. If you have information call 541-247-3242.
