EUGENE, Ore. -- A sustainable landscaping program is making its way to Eugene this December. It'll teach participants how to save some green while going green.

The program is run by Oregon State's Extension Service.

Organizers say participants will learn how to improve water efficiency, enrich soil quality, reduce pesticide and fertilizer use, and protect nearby waterways. Such practices lead to lower power, water and waste bills.

The two-day program starts Dec. 12 and costs $25 per person. Preregistration is required.
