GLENWOOD, Ore.—An online group that calls itself “Predator Poachers” says they tricked a local businessman into exchanging inappropriate messages with a person he believed to be a minor.
Frederick Hendricks, 43, was arrested by Lane County deputies and charged with online sexual corruption of a child. The charge alleges Hendricks took “a substantial step toward physically meeting with or encountering a child.”
He was taken into custody outside of his business, Jackalope Automotive, in Glenwood.
Predator Poachers says they provided information that led to Hendricks' arrest.
A video showing some of the confrontation between Predator Poachers and Hendricks is available on YouTube. There is a longer version of that video available on Patreon.
In that video, one member of the Predator Poachers team says Hendricks believed he was chatting with an eight year old female.
In 2006, Hendricks was convicted on four counts of first degree rape, according to court documents.
"I am a registered sex offender. I'm in classes right now. I'm actually going to go to my counselor since you guys came in. I thank you guys for this," Hendricks said in the video.
Hendricks was arraigned in court Monday. He is scheduled to appear in court for a pre-trial hearing September 20th.
