EUGENE, Ore.- Residents who live near the Oakway Golf Course could soon have new neighbors.

The City of Eugene is presenting residents with the possibility of a Planned Unit Development, or PUD, that would build five new homes in the area.

Reid Verner, a Planning Specialist with the City said a PUD is a way to open the line of communication between developers, buyers, and neighbors.

While it's only a case of five homes, there are some residents who are upset.

"I would feel very disappointed in that I assume my nice view of the golf course would go away and I'd be viewing someone's backyard," said Oakway resident Earl Dorman.

Dorman has lived on the course for 13 years and said he would hate to see the view go away if the plans were eventually approved.

On Thursday, October 28th, neighbors as well as the golf course owners, and Metro Planning, Inc.- the applicants representative, will be able to attend a zoom meeting that will go over the possibility of a PUD.

There are several PUDs within the city of Eugene, including the Capital Hill PUD, or the new development going in on Capital Drive. Plans have been in the works for a few years. But neighbors don't want work to continue.

Brent Lorschieder started the Capital Hill PUD response team. He told KEZI 9 News he and other neighbors believe the city is violating land-use terms.

"We started this team to oppose it and challenge the city's findings," said Lorschieder. "We felt a little bit betrayed and disappointed."
