TENMILE, OR. -- Court documents have revealed Ted De Ramus, 70, is accused of killing Jonathan Ackerman, 36, for believing Ackerman stole money from him.

Court papers show De Ramus said he discovered money from a recent timber sale had been stolen from him.

The documents say sources De Ramus would not name pointed to Ackerman as the the thief, so he went to confront the man and shot him "three to four times."

De Ramus then called his son, Eric, and told him the had "sorted out a situation," according to the court papers.

Eric then called Richard Chasm and the two went to De Ramus' property, discovered what had happened, and Chasm called the police, according to court documents.

Investigators said they have found a gun.

Neighbor Georgia Love said she was shocked when she heard what had happened.

“I.. I can’t believe that. I could believe somebody coming and doing it on their property, but I can’t believe Ted would’ve done that, because he relied so much on Johnathan. Johnathan helped everybody. Especially Ted. He did everything for him.”

De Ramus has been booked into the Douglas County Jail without bail on a charge of murder.
