JUNCTION CITY, Ore. – Junction City police have identified the person killed in a house fire on Monday.
Eri Rolland Ingalls, 82, was found dead after a fire at 236 E 4th Ave.
Crews responded at about 2:45 p.m. after a report of a single-family structure that was heavily involved in fire with possible entrapment of one occupant.
The cause remains undetermined but appears accidental. Damage has been estimated at $200,000. The Oregon State Fire Marshall’s office is handling the investigation.
Junction City Police Chief Bob Morris said he stepped in once he got on scene.
“I found one of the relatives of the victim partway in the living room of the house with a garden hose trying to put the fire out,” Morris said. “I had to physically pull him out of the house, so he would not become a victim of the fire as well.”
